Enhancements To The Online Patent Renewal Submission Function
Date Added : 25-Nov-2005
Please be informed that with effect from 25 November 2005, the following enhancements will be seen in the online patent renewal submission function for patents renewed via the Electronic Online System (EOS).
(i) Mandatory Input Of Both The Singapore Patent Number And The Corresponding Singapore Patent Application Number
Users will be required to input both the SG Patent Number and the corresponding SG Patent Application Number when renewing a granted patent via the EOS. This is to aid in ensuring that the correct patent is being renewed for. Users can use the Basic Search function from the ePatents website at http://www.epatents.gov.sg to determine the corresponding SG patent application number.
(ii) Checkbox Function In Certain Scenarios To Allow The Renewal Of A Singapore Patent For The Next Succeeding Year
Where a patent is granted after the expiry of the period of 45 months from the date of filing, and where during the payment of the 'back' renewal fees via EOS, the renewal of the patent for the next succeeding year is payable, within the prescribed period but before the renewal due date, users will be allowed to select if they wish to pay for the next succeeding year together when they pay the 'back' renewal fees. In such scenarios, a checkbox will be available for users to select if they wish to pay the next succeeding years' renewal within the prescribed period but before the renewal due date.
We also wish to remind users that where Patents Form 41 is required, to file the said patents form accordingly. Reference is to be made to Rule 90 of the Patents Rules.
