How to file a PF1 or PF1(2004) where the number of pages of the description, claims or drawings exceed 999 pages

If you intend to file a PF1 or PF1(2004) with:
(a) description;
(b) claims; or
(c) drawings
exceeding 999 pages, you will currently not be able to key in the relevant number of pages into the space provided in the electronic forms. You should:
(a) prepare the electronic documents with the Electronic Patent Preparation Software (EPP software);
(b) key in ¡®999¡¯ in the relevant space provided in the PF1 or PF1(2004) in the EPP software;
(c) include a cover letter with indication of the actual number of pages of the description, claims and drawings; and
(d) submit the electronic files on a portable media.
The usual requirements and procedures in the Patents Act, Patents Rules and Practice Direction would apply.
